Recording of the inauguration ceremony of Leonardo, the fourth most powerful supercomputer in the world according to the Top500 ranking, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, local, Italian and European institutions and part of the national and international scientific community.
Leonardo is installed at the Bologna Technopole and is one of the three pre-exascale systems of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). Thanks to its computing power, it will be possible to develop new applications in areas such as artificial intelligence and personalized medicine, renewable energy sources, drug and material design, bioengineering, weather forecasting and the fight against climate change.
This project has received funding from the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No cnect.ddg1.c.2(2019)8804531 - LEONARDO supercomputer. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
